''Airplane!''-Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty and Lloyd Bridges star in
this hilarious spoof of airplane dramas in general and the 1957
Paramount film ''Zero Hour'' in particular. Rated PG. 3 stars.
''Battle Beyond the Stars''-This humorous, action-packed space
adventure stars Richard Thomas. Rated PG. 3 stars.
''The Blue Lagoon''-Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins star as
two unbelievably naive children shipwrecked on a lost tropical
island. Rated R. Half star.
''The Blues Brothers''-John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star in this
rollicking musical film that centers on the lives of the two
characters created on ''Saturday Night Live.'' Rated R. 3 stars.
''Bronco Billy''-Clint Eastwood stars as the main attraction of a
Wild West traveling show in this charming change-of-pace Western.
Rated PG. 4 stars.
''Caddyshack''-Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield and Ted Knight star
in this rather disappointing comedy. Rated PG.
''Carny''-Gary Busey and Jody Foster star in this film, bursting
with more information about the American carnival than it can
contain, surrounding a plot too thin to support it. Rated R. 2 stars.
''Cheech and Chong's Next Movie''-A formless, shapeless, thoughtless
mess of a comedy centered on the one premise of drug-taking. Rated R.
1 star.
''Close Encounters of the Third Kind''-A recently released altered
version of the sci-fi thriller, with footage added and subtracted.
''Dressed to Kill''-Michael Caine and Angie Dickinson star in Brian
DePalma's murder mystery, reminiscent of Hitchcock, but without his
full-bodied characters. Rated R. 3 stars.
''The Empire Strikes Back''-''Star Wars'' saga continues with many
of the original characters, plus Billy Dee Williams and Frank Oz.
It's a spirited production, but it still suffers slightly from the
''sequel syndrome.'' Rated PG. 3 stars.
''Fame''-Alan Parker's brilliant, engaging film centers around
hopefuls at New York's High School for the Performing Arts. Rated R.
3 1/2 stars.
''The Final Countdown''-Filmed aboard the U.S.S Nimitz, this story
tells what happens when the world's largest, nuclear-powered aircraft
carrier is transported to the hours just before the attack on Pearl
Harbor. Rated PG.
''Honeysuckle Rose''-Country singer Willie Nelson plays a country
music star in this delightful film, a surprisingly good first
starring role for him. Rated PG. 3 stars.
''The Hunter''-Steve McQueen stars in this drama, which chronicles
the true story of Ralph ''Papa'' Thorson, a modern-day bounty hunter
who has apprehended more than 5,000 fugitives. Rated PG.
''Oh Heavenly Dog''-Murdered private eye Chevy Chase returns from
heaven to solve his own slaying in the only body available, that of a
small, shaggy mongrel, Benji. This dog is only for die-hard Benji
fans. Rated PG. 1 star.
''The Shining''-Jack Nicholson stars in director Stanley Kubrick's
half-effective thriller based on Stephen King's book. Enfeebled by
vagueness, the film just isn't scary. Rated R. 2 1/2 stars.
''The Tin Drum''-Set against the rise and fall of the Third Reich,
this film tells the story of a 3-year-old boy determined not to grow
up because of the pettiness and hatred he sees in the world around
him. But is it the story of an innocent lad rebelling against
authority or the tale of an obnoxious little brat? Rated R. 2 stars.
''Urban Cowboy''-John Travolta stars effectively as an authentic
Western hero transported into the contemporary world. Rated PG. 3
stars.
